Staff write-up
With Andor officially wrapped, revisiting Rogue One just makes sense. Coherently told, which is severely lacking in modern star wars, we're weaved through the events that ultimately lead to the destruction of the Death Star.
Not only is Rogue One tightly woven, it's also beautifully shot. Practically begging to be paused and admired. The effects are top notch, often indistinguishable between CGI vs practical. The emperial destroyers have never looked better.
Weak secondary characters bring it down a bit, but the addition (but not blatent exploitation) of legacy characters works more perfectly than all the modern "remember that?!" style of stuffing in references that's all the rage right now.
